30/7/15 - The Wedding of Mr & Mrs Whiteside
Back in February the band were asked to provide music for a wedding at St Nicholas Parish Church (C of E), Wrea Green. The day went incredibly well and the happy couple have sent us a couple of fantastic pictures and a lovely email......
"Thank you so so much for helping make our wedding day truly magical! You guys were a real hit with all our wedding guests and it really kick started an amazing and memorable day. I've attached some photos but the memory of the day will last time! Thank you for playing all the requests you made so many people's day including our own!
Mr and Mrs Whiteside xx"
Great joint concert with Blackpool Male Voice Choir to celebrate the 70th anniversary of VE Day. Fantastic music enjoyed by the audience at Blackpool's Salvation Army Citadel. Thanks as always to everyone who helped out!
Councillor Paul Galley was in the audience and posted......."Just got back from a superb night tonight watching the Blackpool Male Voice Choir and Blackpool Brass present their "Music to celebrate the end of World war 2 in Europe". It was absolutely amazing and they are two organisations I'm going to support in everyway that I can as they do Blackpool proud. Paul and Sarah and John and Hayley you are all amazing."
Peter Woodhead, the band's Bass Trombone player for many years has decided that it is time to retire from banding.
As he decided that a presentation at the bandroom was unnecessary, we had to go and visit him at Blackpool Music Service to present him with a gift and our sincere thanks for all the work and effort he has put in during a career at Blackpool spanning some 30 years.
Our thanks to Peter and enjoy your "retirement" gift!
(PS.....Vacancy on Bass Trombone)

A great days banding saw the band come away 3rd out of 19 and a gain a qualifying spot for the nationals at Cheltenham! As is customary, the band celebrated in their usual way with a few beers and a curry! gallery
Preparations now begin for the trip to Cheltenham in September where the band will compete against the qualifiers from around the country to try and become national champions.
Blackpool Brass almost had a clean sweep of prizes after a great performance of Philip Sparke's "Evolution" in the Charter Theatre at Preston's Guild Hall. Although not without the odd blemish, the performance was enough for the band to take 1st place and in the process also win Best Soloist (Danny Jones), Best Trombones, Best Horns, Best Basses and of course winning MD to John Pearson. gallery
Onwards now for the North West Area competition on 1st March at Blackpool's Winter Gardens.
