Christmas 2013

The band had a busy time as usual over the Christmas period kicking off in November(!) with the switch-on of the Lytham lights. On top of the usual carolling we had concerts all over the Fylde Coast & beyond. One of the highlights as usual was a packed house at Broughton Club near Preston where we played to the usual enthusiastic crowd and it was lovely to see some of our retired (?) players in the audience. It was especially nice to present Ann Rogerson with flowers to show our appreciation for years of help organising the event as she now retires as secretary and hands the reigns over to someone else. It was also her birthday......21 again!

We also organised our own Concert this year at the Salvation Army Citadel in Blackpool with the help of Blackpool Music Services Youth Concert Band. The event was a very successful collaberation between our two bands and raised £262.00 in aid of The Bridge Project. The concert was fantastic and we are very hopeful that the event will become a regular fixture on the bands calender. Thanks to Andy White & the players at BMS.

Thanks to Taz & all the players of Blackpool Brass and those from other bands who helped us out this Christmas, it was a particularly busy year. photos

29/9/13 - Fleetwood Contest

A reasonable performance of "Dark Side of the Moon" gives the band a 3rd place behind Old Hall Brass & Darwen Brass. Full results. Adjudicator Paul Andrews remarked that the performance was too up and down to place any higher, but the band members enjoyed an afternoon in the local watering holes anyway. Well done to all the new players young and not so much who made a great start to their time with the band! Congratulations to all the contests prize-winners. More pics.

28/7/13 - Happy Mount Park

It turned out a spectacularly nice Sunday afternoon at the park in Morecambe. The band played in searing heat to a large crowd who thoroughly appreciated our performance. A few of our players on holiday for this one so many thanks to our friends from Morecambe & Pilling bands who plugged a few gaps for us.

Welcome to Daniel Walker who joins us on 2nd Trombone.

14/7/13 - Lea & Cottam Fun Day

A great concert by the band at UCLAN in Preston in the glorious sunshine this weekend. The band performed for an hour at the Westleigh Centre for a packed audience at what is to become an annual event following it's success last year during the Preston Guild celebrations. gallery
